Briana Del Orbe

University: Boston University
Hometown: Peabody, MA
Major: Health Science
Biography: I participate in the prospective cohort study, where I analyze patients' medical records to gain insight into the ways the communication during care transitions impacts their outcomes. Specifically, I am interested in the effects of the communication barriers or discrepancies that could impact a patient’s outcome after discharge or transfer from one department to another. Having worked in hospital environments as well as directly interacting with patients myself, I became aware of the extent to which communication is crucial in healthcare environments. I am interested in research because it allows me to look at patterns across systems rather than individual moments of care. In the future, I hope to attend medical school and pursue a career as a physician while continuing to explore opportunities in clinical research and healthcare innovation.
Fun Fact: I’m a huge roller coaster fan, I’ve ridden the tallest roller coaster in the U.S., and always try to find a new coaster whenever I travel.
