Apply To Be A Research Assistant

Research Assistant Positions for Undergraduate Learners

The Microtransitions Lab offers paid, for-credit, and volunteer Research Assistant positions to undergraduate learners. Paid positions tend to be limited in number, compared to volunteer positions. Research Assistants must be enrolled in a college or university in the U.S. to participate in the lab. Undergraduate Research Assistants are expected to devote a minimum of 10 hours per week to the lab, depending on their assigned project(s) and paid/unpaid status. New Research Assistants are paired with an experienced team member who will supervise them on an existing project. Students are required to attend weekly lab meetings.

For-Credit Internships

Course credit for participation in the lab is offered to senior undergraduate students at Boston University in the Health Sciences and Human Physiology programs through SAR HS 410 and SAR HS 405. If you are interested in applying for one of these internship programs in the Microtransitions in Care Lab, please reach out to us.

If you are interested in a for-credit internship but are enrolled in a university/program not listed above, please feel free to reach out to us and we can try to coordinate with your university/program to offer this option.

Learner-led Research

We value the professional and research development of our Research Assistants. After 1-2 semesters in the lab, highly motivated learners are welcome to develop a learner-initiated research project related to the lab’s focus, under the mentorship and guidance of the lab PIs. Those who take leadership roles on projects may have the opportunity to present at conferences or draft study manuscripts as well.

How to Apply

Please send your CV/resume to Dr. Canter at: bcanter@bu.edu.

We will find a time to talk for 20 minutes about the lab, its current projects, and your interests/goals. Following the interview, you will hear from us within 5 business days.

If you are invited to join the lab as a Research Assistant, we will then schedule a time for your onboarding.
