​Biography:​ My interest in the lab was sparked by my exposure to the geriatric population while
volunteering as an assistant at a local pain management clinic. During my time there, patient
interactions had taught me how a patient’s environment, poor communication at several levels,
and insufficient attention to patients' health details can negatively impact the type of care they
receive. Additionally, my interest in this aspect of healthcare grew due to the personal
involvement in caring for older family members; experiencing firsthand the barriers that influence
the care they receive further motivated me to pursue research dedicated to improving the
experiences older adults have in healthcare. Since joining this lab, I have enjoyed focusing my
attention on microtransitions, and how the multitude of experiences during the outing could
contribute to the overall well-being of older adults. Currently, I am on the Pre-Med track, and
plan to apply what I have learned from this lab towards my other activities.
